The 4 Essential Factors in Selecting the Perfect Sofa
The sofa is probably the most important piece of furniture in the home, bar none.
That is why you must think it through thoroughly when choosing one, and you absolutely cannot pick the wrong one.
As long as you can successfully choose the most suitable sofa, it will not only upgrade your home environment, but also fully meet your needs.
How can you do that? In fact, there are 4 key points when choosing a sofa. Let’s start with the most important first point:
(1) Who will use it? How will it be used?
Analyse your own living habits, then choose the sofa that suits you best according to those habits.
Yes, you should not start with the material or price, because a sofa exists for people. A sofa that is used by people is a useful sofa, and a sofa that is comfortable to use is a good sofa. Here are 3 examples.

1. When you are tired and sit down, the sofa should properly support your lower back. The key is that it must be comfortable to sit on. Generally speaking, a sofa that is too low may not be suitable.

2. You can watch TV in a completely relaxed state while maintaining a fixed, comfortable sitting posture that does not affect your health. So the sofa needs to support the neck effectively, and it also needs to protect the head effectively.

3. If you keep pets, you may consider the sofa’s structure: can your pet use this sofa easily? This has to do with whether it is high or low.
Think more and find your own answer. After all, the sofa you buy must be designed for you.
What counts as comfortable and what counts as good vary from person to person, so there is no need to ask anyone else’s opinion on this! Only you know, because these are your own living habits. Whether lying down or sitting, only you know what feels most comfortable.
The key is to successfully analyse what you truly want and identify your personal lifestyle. Do not deliberately choose an expensive leather sofa, because in most cases it will be a waste.
To emphasise again: when shopping, never start from the wrong angle, and be sure to prioritise your own needs. What kind of sofa do you actually want, and how will you use it?
(2) A colour that matches
Once you have chosen the sofa style, it is time to choose the colour.
Colour is a matter of personal preference, but you can also choose a colour that suits your home style. Start by considering it from the perspective of design style. Is your home
Nordic style?
Industrial style?
Natural style?
Retro style?
Contemporary style?
Rococo style?
Minimalism?
Japanese style? Only you know what your style is, then choose the colour that matches best.
If you really have difficulty choosing a colour, you can probably choose from a feng shui perspective. Different colours have different effects on feng shui, and suitable colours can strengthen certain aspects of luck. Depending on whether you want to enhance your romantic luck or money luck, fortune-telling master
Master Tang Yi Ji may be able to help you.

(3) Material
After deciding on the two options above, it is time to consider the sofa’s material. Different materials will of course affect how it feels when you sit down, the texture when you touch it with your hand, and its visual appearance.
Sofa materials can broadly be divided into two main categories: fabric / leather. Each has its own pros and cons.

(4) Sitting posture
Finally, it is time to consider sitting posture, because it affects health.
After you have decided on the three options above, you can officially sit down and try it out. Take time to feel it carefully, and imagine how it would feel in different situations. Not sure how? Simply put, feel these 4 points: firmness, appropriate elasticity, softness, and how well it protects the lower back (or different parts of the body).
Remember, poor sitting posture is often a cause of lower back pain. Although there are many ways to solve this, such as buying a suitable cushion so there is something to support your lower back when you sit down, the prerequisite is that you first understand yourself.
If a sofa cannot protect your body and make you truly comfortable, then it is not a good sofa. If you do not choose a suitable sofa according to your own living habits and lifestyle, the only explanation is that you do not understand yourself well enough… In that case, you can ask a professional interior designer for help (of course it cannot be free), or spend more time observing your own daily behaviour.
